Common Questions

FAQ

Straight answers about the process, the timeline, and what to expect.

The Process

How does the process start?

+

It starts with a conversation — either by phone or a site visit. We come out, look at your lot, listen to what you have in mind, and give you an honest read on what's feasible. There's no cost for this and no obligation.

From there, we put together a detailed scope and fixed-price quote. You'll know exactly what you're getting before any contract is signed.

Do you handle permits?

+

Yes. Permit procurement and coordination with the county is part of our scope on every new build. You don't have to navigate that — we do.

Do you use subcontractors?

+

No. Our crew handles the work from excavation through startup. We don't subcontract critical phases of the build. This keeps quality consistent and accountability clear.

What areas do you serve?

+

We're based in Fort Mohave and regularly work throughout Bullhead City, Kingman, Lake Havasu City, and Laughlin, NV. If you're outside those areas, reach out — we'll let you know if we can help.

Cost & Financing

What does a custom pool cost?

+

It varies significantly based on size, shape, finish, and features. A straightforward pool in the Mohave Valley area typically starts around $40,000–$50,000. Additions like a spa, water features, or premium finishes add to that.

We don't quote a number until we've seen your lot and understood what you want. We'd rather give you an accurate number than a low one that changes later.

Do you offer financing?

+

Yes — we work with Lyon Financial, a pool-specific lender with competitive rates and fast approvals. You can apply directly through their site or ask us for the dealer-specific link during your consultation.

Is your quote fixed price?

+

Yes. We put together a detailed fixed-price contract before work starts. The only time a price changes is if the scope changes — and that only happens with your approval.

Timeline

How long does a new pool take to build?

+

Most builds run 8–14 weeks from permit approval to startup. Permitting itself can take 2–4 weeks depending on the county's workload. We'll give you a realistic schedule before you commit.

What time of year is best to start?

+

Fall and winter are ideal in the Mohave Valley — cooler temps are easier on cure times and the crew. If you want to swim by summer, you'll want to start the process by January at the latest.

We build year-round, so there's no bad time to start the conversation.

Maintenance

Do you provide pool maintenance after the build?

+

We handle startup and initial water balancing, and we walk you through the equipment operation thoroughly. Ongoing weekly maintenance is typically handled by a pool service company — we can recommend local services if needed.

What warranty do you provide?

+

Our structural shell carries a workmanship warranty, and all equipment comes with manufacturer warranties. We'll walk through coverage specifics during the quoting process.

Desert Steel Shop

What is Desert Steel and how does it relate to GFX Pools?

+

Desert Steel is a manufacturer of hand-crafted metal sculptures designed for outdoor and poolside display. We carry their products because they complement the kind of spaces we build — durable, striking, built for desert environments.

How does shipping work for Desert Steel products?

+

Products ship directly from Desert Steel to your address. Shipping costs are calculated based on the size and weight of the piece and your location. You'll see shipping details at checkout.

Can I see the sculptures in person before buying?

+

Contact us and we may be able to arrange a viewing of available pieces. Alternatively, Desert Steel's own website has additional photography and detail on each product.
